i don't know if this topic goes in here.. but i think it does? haha.

okay. so i've been thinking about taking pilates classes to tone my body, but i'm not sure if this would be the best way to do it..

for people that do pilates:
how long have you been doing it? does it help you a lot?

i also want to take this class to lose weight  will it help?

Pilates (pronounced: puh-lah-teez) improves your mental and physical well-being, increases flexibility, and strengthens muscles. Pilates uses controlled movements in the form of mat exercises or equipment to tone and strengthen the body. For decades, it's been the exercise of choice for dancers and gymnasts (and now Hollywood actors), but it was originally used to rehabilitate bedridden or immobile patients during World War I.

Pilates was developed for rehabilitation of WWI or was it WWII veterans, can't remember but it was developed to strengthen the core muscles in the body...the core being your abs, lower back and leg muscles. it also helps with overall body strengthening.

I think its good for people who want to get into an overall total body workout. It not really too much like yoga because I believe it incorporates more body weight exercising and muscle building than yoga.
