nope =(, the shows/games are gone for now...the djs don't got much time to commit...so now it's all music
Wow, I was just thinking after seeing the youtube beauty channel http://www.hk-mtv.com/showthread.php...LEASE-SUPPORT!
It might be possible to make some youtube/fb video show as well; although it just an idea...however I don't know how to make that interactive, as in live shows...
for example:
a short video show of 3 minutes...(seems short, but I can already think of how hard it is to make a script, record and retake and install the scenes; research for the content)
content: faits divers or what happens in the hk-mtv meets or a "did you know that...?" items or just a focus on something funny that happened in a video (e.g. did you notice that Lady Gaga wore a "dress" with duck imprints?)
...wow I never knew that my knowledge of video was so limited...
Post your views on this and if it's not good I'll put the idea in the drawer for a long long time
that depends on how you perceive it. The game shows in ID920 made me think how it's possible to do another one without airing time problems. Since everyone uses youtube nowadays, I think a video show might be a good option too, as an improvement or replacement of the radio show.
But that video of course isn't real time interactive...
how to link the chat with the callers and the video?
i'm not sure where you are getting at. do you mean we make a hk-mtv video blog with each user recording a video about current events (or whatever) weekly? that sounds like fun
I'll look onto this when I get an idea.
I was just drawing some lines on a piece of paper, as a matter of comparison.
Nah, I wouldn't abuse video for that, since everyone on youtube is doing that. I wouldn't feel like watching what you are doing on a daily basis. I don't even watch that on tv
But since there is no need for this (video show/program, whatever you call it), I can't work the idea out.
internet DJ for free and volunteer work is more work than fun .
I DJ here with hk-mtv five years ago it was more work and preparation on topics.
the technology is different but the work is the same, its harder and harder after every show and you soon run out of topics and prize.
unless there is a pay worker for it..other wise it is just too much .. i think we last for 10 months... not sure ask AMZ
That sounds like an idea to commercialize a part of the radio work...I mean how would you find money to pay your worker?
How about selling t-shirts, hoodies, mugs, mouse pads, stickers, cups, plates, utensils, soap bars, chop sticks, .... with prints of quotes from the show or logos? Would that work? Is there enough traffic and is there interest for such things from the audience?
Ah, Thank you.... how have you been..?
I have just realize it was five years ago.. i think it was seven or eight years ago.
the term "commercialize" seems overkill..
some forum sells memberships. or put up a trading website....
as long there is a way to make profit, the radio needs to keep the listener entertain and staying put.
this give and take cycle will move on.
but first we need to understand this forum's members. What do we have in common beside like music? and then we market the segment.
i can tell u the main group of audience for id920 is not us (forum-ers) and yes, suprise suprise, it is actually the working force who wants something different than the mainstream radio that plays the same 10 songs over and over again. I think the reason for this makes sense as our request system is pretty state of the art (for an asian/chinese radio) where everyone contributes to the list.
@KJ001, traffic wise there is not enough, though I am confident into driving that up because I have a way to do it ;)
BUT the main concern that me and my partner have is the "legal" issues of running an online station. Right now, it is quite "grey" in a sense that it's not 100% illegal, but at the same time it's not legal either. So that is the problem which made id920 halt (other than everyone has been busy with their life)
as for profit sharing, it IS possible once traffic goes up through advertisements, however again the legal issues comes at play. me and my partner have thought about tuning our business model such that we can make a profit and at the same time stay away from the grey zone, but there is simply no perfect solution. thoughts on that anyone?
to play music in a commercial level playing ads and stuff, in Canada (if the server is in canada) you have to pay a fee (sorf of like SOCAN fee to some music group).
it all about motivation... what drives guys to night club and spend money if there are no girls going there and no girls want to get laid....
unless...... there is NGO behind it .. paying you to distribute a message like religion or.. political stuff...
the mainstream radio that plays the same 10 songs over and over again..?!!? really.. I think that is your radio.... not mine..
but they get pay to repeating those songs, so it lingers in your head and you buy the CDs or DL mp3s.
there's an idea that i've had for quite some time, but its seems very far fetched and requires lots of time, effort, work, and possibly money.
you can develop it into something similar to Pandora Radio, Last.fm, imeem, iLike, etc. but with a project this big, you also need to know an adequate amount of programming (which i have failed acquiring a degree in, unfortunately) but this would be catered to the chinese music scene only. why that? because China is booming right now. of course everything would need to be in chinese and everything. i mean, look at 微博 (chinese twitter), its gotten big.
or it can be just for people in canada, us, uk, australia, or just non-asian countries in general. the goal would be to provide people who have no access to chinese music/local radios to have access to it. and it helps the artists promote their music. of course with this idea, royalties is a huge issue. but the purpose would be to promote the music to people who have no access to it and it'll help cut down the illegal downloads and what not. that of course if what you'll say to the record companies if this was the route you should go.
but these are VERY VERY far-fetched ideas. but hey, it could work? lol.
and yeah, my ideas was too far out, i know. but a girl can dream and hope right?

on a side note, its time to update the music aint it?

i think i've talked to ndru on the topic of how we can generate funds to support id920...and sadly like ndru said there really isn't a perfect solution...in order for ads to work...we need far more users than we currently have...the more users we have the higher our expenses r to run the station...since the station isn't currently commercialized...i think record labels will turn a blind eye to us...but the moment we commercialize it...u can be sure the record labels will want their cut :P ...royalties won't be cheap...i read an article about pandora...they went bankrupt several times because of royalties...so unless we find a way to make enough $$$ to cover royalties + expenses for running the station...i think we r stuck w/ id920 as it is...
thats bad to hear... i send invitations to all my facebook contacts~~ maybe its an option to make a paypal donation thing? so people can donate by clicking on it?
Hello AMZ
In case you have not noticed... VJ on youtube is very popular..
people upload their latest fav song and make a top10 list.
nowaday if you dun have news and traffic on the radio channel.. people prefer listen to youtube....as they feel more freedom listen whenever they wanted.
